About[]

A senior Apothecary in the Chapter, unrivalled by even Klementhos in his fascination for the human body. A close personal friend of Seran, his pursuit of biological sciences is prodigious, and attracted the Chief Apothecary's attention as early as the Ghosts' arrival to Deus, where he took the young Apothecary under his wing, impressed by his mastery of augmentation and implants. He has benefited greatly from his friendship with Seran, who he has learned the rites of the Machine God and machinery from. His beliefs lean closely toward what the Organicist sect of the Machine Cult preach, as he strives forever further to improve the human body with a zeal no other brother Apothecary matches. Some of the brothers amongst the Fifth, who are frequently near him in the Tombstone's labs mutter that he is perhaps too unorthodox, that he will further his quest for improvement regardless of the means.

He was officially named Klementhos' apprentice in 332.M41 alongside Apothecary Neiton, and spends most of his time in the labs alongside his teacher, developing or implanting new types of augmentation, be they mechanical or biological in nature.

In 342.M41 Avicenor accompanied Chapter Master and the small Astartes force that took part in Operation Decapitation.

Quotes:

Your machines are glorious and mighty in their own right, but their potential is limited to the steel they are made of. A machine can not rise above what its maker has intended for it, short of idiotic serendipities. The human body is the ideal machine, it can be improved and enhanced almost endlessly, its potential is without any true limit, the only constraint is our hesitation to take the next step in improvement.

- Apothecary Avicenor, in a discussion with his friend Seran
