Brutix is an aged war machine that has served the Astartes for millennia, and its early service is shrouded in mystery. Like all Land Raiders Brutix also has a powerful machine spirit that can be said to have a life of its own.
What is known is that it was constructed alongside another Land Raider Phobos named Argorantos, and they served in battle together many times. However eventually in the aftermath of a lost battle the two machines were parted, as Brutix was retreated and Argorantos was left on the battlefield shattered and broken.
Brutix continued to serve and eventually came into the posession of the Order of Bloody Tears of the Sisters of Battle. However during their void skirmish with the Ghosts of Retribution in 325.M41 the Adeptus Astartes took the Land Raider as a prize from the Sorotias' vessel.
Brutix served the Ghosts of Retribution through several campaigns including the Invasion of Mormark, the Betrayal at Varda, and the Cleansing of San Larion.
However in 360.M41 the machine spirit of the Brutix grew restless and agitated, and Chapter Master psychically connected with the machine spirit to see what troubled it. Brutix had apparently sensed the restoration of Argorantos on the chaos world of Astima Epsilon deep in The Grave, and felt a great need to destroy the tainted Land Raider.
